June 2011: We held a three-day Board meeting in Behchoko, as well as a public update.

February/March 2011: EMAB held community updates in Lutselk'e and Kugluktuk.

February 2011: The arbitration process regarding the budget dispute between EMAB and Diavik concluded with an award and a clarification.

October 2010: After a period of mediation, the dispute resolution process regarding Diavik's funding to EMAB has moved into arbitration as per the Environmental Agreement. EMAB has been designated a Party in the process and is the Applicant in the arbitration.

September 2010: EMAB held its Annual General Meeting and released its annual report for 2009/10.

July 2010: The disagreement over Diavik’s withholding $300,000 of funding that began in December 2008 continues. However, INAC and the GNWT have jointly informed Diavik that they are invoking the dispute resolution process as described in the Environmental Agreement.

May 2010: EMAB reviewed Diavik's Aquatic Effects Monitoring Program and Wildlife Monitoring Program annual reports.

EMAB's reviews of the AEMP 2009 (and conveyance letter) and the WMP 2009.

March 2010: For the second year, Diavik deducted $150,000 from its annual contribution to EMAB.

March 30-31: EMAB hosted a Review of the Implementation of the Environmental Agreement Workshop in Dettah, which included participants from all Parties to the agreement.

December 2009: The draft TK proposal developed by EMAB and workshop participants (Monitoring the ‘Land’ by Watching and Using Caribou and Fish) sent to the Aboriginal Parties for comment.

December 9-11, 2009: EMAB meeting and Christmas Open House.

September 2009: EMAB Annual General Meeting.

July 27-29, 2009: EMAB members spent the first day of this meeting on the annual site visit of the Diavik Diamond Mine. The Board meeting was then held in the community of Whati.

May 2009: EMAB meeting, including EMAB consultants, Diavik personnel, and regulators, to review the 2008 Wildlife Monitoring Program report and the 2008 Aquatic Effects Monitoring Program report.

March 24-26, 2009: EMAB held a Traditional Knowledge Workshop In Kugluktuk. Participants included community representatives, as well as Board members. Allice Legat, of the Wek'eezhii Renewable Resources Board, facilitated. As a group, we reviewed a draft proposal for TK monitoring we developed over a six-month period.

January, 2009: The Wek'eezhii Land and Water Board requested that Diavik update its Interim Closure and Reclamation Plan. EMAB held a Closure Workshop to help community members understand all the elements involved in closing a mine.
