For nine years, the members of the Environmental Monitoring Advisory Board (EMAB) have been working together to fulfill their responsibilities. These are listed in the Environmental Agreement for the Diavik project.

EMAB is a consensus board with the task of ensuring that all those responsible for protecting the Lac De Gras environment, where Diavik Diamond Mines is located, are doing their jobs.

EMAB is unique in that it was the first such board to include as signatories the Aboriginal Parties, whose primary interest is protecting the land of their ancestors for future generations.

The Environmental Agreement explains EMAB's funding. EMAB and Diavik are currently in disagreement over funding.

In June 2008 EMAB formally approved a strategic plan to guide us over the next five years.
